Sonali:Dee aap gussa ho?
Khanak squirmed… “We have to talk”
Sonali looked guilty? “Nah its just my imagination” she
thought…
Sonali was clipping roses from the plants… some too soon…
“Is kamre mein kya kaam tha tumhe?”
Sonali turned and smiled… “I came to see you Dee”
“Sonali” “I understand… (she reached and gripped Sonali’s
wrist, making her pause) “Hes married… we are married” The “we” sounded alien
to Khanak’s ears…her heart skipped a beat
“Haan? To?” asked the girl being deliberately dense…
“You should knock before you go into someone’s room” Khanak
backed up and generalized her advice…
“I DID” acting innocent… “No one responded, so I went in, I
wanted to wear that purple chiffon kurti” she said in Gujju with dreamy eyes…
“That’s in my closet!!!” Khanak barked
“Sonali freed her hand and appeared defiant.. gave Khanak a
measured look…
Khanak wondered whats going on through her mind…
“Jeeju ne kaha “Khanak” I just went to show him I am NOT
Khanak” her tone sounded like she thought she was better than Khanak…
Sonali smiled a slow smile… smug…
“You shouldn’t have! Aage se mat jao please”
“Jeeju ne kaha aapse?”
“Haan” Khanak ended the conversation, leaving the girl
standing there with a bunch of roses in her hand…

Bai sorted clean laundry, made piles for the istriwala…
She appeared worried… Khanak just helped…
“You know what Bua will say”
“Nothing new”
“You married out of caste… into a Punjabi family, they will
mock us”
“Remember Bai… I was a widow… I couldn’t have gotten
anything better?” Khanak sounded shrill, but was deeply hurt…
“She will go tell her Mom, with mirch masala”
“Khanak squirmed… she was bold… and self reliant… but tread
carefully on the rocky road of family relationships…
“He looks like a movie star so he must be a scum bag” Bai
said… “That will be your Bua’s reaction”
Khanak smiled… giggled “You think he looks like a movie
star?” her expression changed quickly…
“I am used to Dadi and Bua’s cruel words Bai” she muttered
sadly…
Bai huffed… “Beta”
“Bua and Dadi will not send her again to this house… Sonali
will embellish stories about your lifestyle and how you live etc and tell her
Nani and Ma”
“My husband wanted her to stay off his living space” Khanak
suddenly was furious with Shaan.. fearing the repercussions of an open show
down on the topic…
“Did she misbehave?” Bai asked in shock…
“She likes him Bai” Khanak was embarrassed to admit that
“OMG! Hey Ishwar… Oh! No!... Aada should never know about
this” Bai paced the room agitatedly….
“Bai was in despair “Sonali will tell her Mom, Bua will
complain to Aada”
Khanak appeared frustrated “WHAT should I do Bai?”
“Are you sure your husband didn’t misunderstand?”
“MISUNDERSTAND? Bai she has been trailing him like a puppy…
fawning over… touching him at every opp” Khanak was jealous!!
I didn’t think THIS would happen… ever…I mean she never
looked at Sooraj much… leave alone talk…” Bai sounded mocking..
Khanak sat down… her hands on her face…”It’s the choice I made
to marry the man”
Both were silent………
Dadi walked in…
“Arey mother and daughter quiet?”"It does run in the family..
Dadi joked about the "quiet gene"
Bai looked at Khanak ashamed… Khanak hinted that Dadi does
not know…
Bai looked relieved…
Finally Khanak spoke..... Hope sonali get lil sense atleast..... She shudnt enter in Gujral house again ever !!!

Suraj is different and Shaan is different..Shaan look like a movie star and rich!!!
Good dadi dont know yet about her lovely grand daughter act..Even if does she will be supporting her..:x

Khanak finally verbally told her to back off...She needs to stay put regardless of her ‘bua’ or dadi!
A second chance like Shantanu is a dream of girl despite of being married before or not...Khanak is blessed despite of their ups and downs... you cannot deny the guy is ardently devoted to her!
What did Bai mean by if it was ‘Sooraj’ it wouldn’t have happened?
Is she being contemptuous regarding Shaan or maybe I misunderstood her of what she meant...
The last line.. She made the choice plus she KNOWS he is right this time so she should stand by him

Khanak's warning to Sonali was OK for the first time, but if Sonali does the same thing again, Khanak should be very strict with her.......Sonali is horrible!! loved Khanak's "my husband" and all her arguments in his favour........Shaan is the best thing that could have happened to her.........no one must have loved Khanak the way her husband loves her.........does her Bai even realize that? why did she talk about Suraj? Khanak taking care of her relatives is fine but they are an aweful lot.....really !!
