A month passed since that evening debacle, Dadi squeamishly
watched crack develop in the relationship. She tried talking with Shaan over
lunch one day, reminded him that he went chasing after her to Delhi to bring
her back, asked hm what was SO wrong with her wanting a child.
He was not the type to be swayed by Dadi, or for that matter
any body else
He coolly told her “I don’t think we are ready yet”
“SHE IS” Dadi hissed…
“Oh! Really? Remember you said during the separation, “Get
your act together Shaan and Khanak, a baby should not be brought into such
juvenile antics”
“Shaan” Dadi interrupted..
“No Dadi… its not a bone of contention thing”
“It seems like it to her” Dadi argued…
“She wants her own architecture firm, at some point, “green
housing” etc” Shaan TRIED hard not to be derisive…
“People that want their own businesses don’t have a family?”
Dadi argued… “Your Dad”
“Dad’s different”Shaan was dismissive…
“Beta” Dadi ‘s shoulders slumped… “A baby brings closeness,
it binds… it bonds”
“You can smack me publicly if you like, but we are close
enough already… intimate every nite… most nites twice, and during weekends… if
she is home then we”
You are incorrigible and hopeless Shantanu Gujral” Dadi said
unflinching..
He laughed out loud… “It’s the TRUTH, check with her”
“S—“ Dadi stopped “Its not EVERYTHING”
“It is… to me…….” He quickly corrected himself “To US”
“I never encourage her flighty behavior, I must do it now I
feel” Dadi threatened…
Shaan’s expression tightenened.. “Dadi please”
“You have no idea what she is going through”
“Oh really?’ “Tell me”
“Ritu might get pregnant one of these days… Nivedita might
have a child out of wedlock, as you know… Trishna is 8 weeks pregnant”
“That’s too many babies” he said bluntly, as he emptied his
beer and ate the last crumb of his pastrami sandwich…smiling devilishly..
Dadi stared dumbfounded...
Loved it!!! ♥♥♥ At least Shaan and Dadi had a must needed conversation..:) Now he blaming Khanak's career aspirations for baby..Well..He sooner or later gonna start his own firm..Then he'll be more damn busy..

if he dont want a baby right now well kabhi hoga bhi ya nahi but then why dont he talk with her and make her understand ye baat toh hawa me hi hain hehheheheh

uff.....finally got to read the updates...........so Khanak is not pregnant and since Shaan knows "every little detail" about his wife he could not be fooled !! this update got me real worried about the couple...hope the baby issue does not destroy such a lovely relationship.......both of them have a point and both of them are stubborn.........Dadi's threat and Shaan's reaction to it was the best part for me......loved the whole Dadi-Shaan conversation infact........whether he agrees or not, someone has to talk to him...........Dadi is a sweetheart!! really looking forward and Thanks a lot for writing such amazing updates!!

ReplyDeletebut me feels shaan is avoiding the baby issue by sayin she has career ambitions and bth are not ready lol! i guess he just want to have fun for nw dont blame him as most men are like this not ready for responisbility

I think the whole idea of 'I am not ready' is over used! But that is the reaction you get from most of the couples in this generation :P
ReplyDeleteI think he chooses to ignore it, he knows she wants a baby! But I think, somehow the baby will not bond them together, but give Khanak some assurance and probably things might start looking easier :)
I LOVED the conversation between the both! It just shows how incompatibly compatable this couple is :P
