Ritu: Arent you guys supposed to be at work?
Shaan: Nah… (shrugs carelessly) I decided to retire…
Ritu:Is my friend in shock?
Shaan grins…
Ritu:Tum uske mug mein kya pee rahe ho?
Shaan:Its her chai…
Ritu:Hmmmm… so THAT’S what going on here..
Khanak is reading the comics page of some newspaper online
on his ipad…
R:Wah wah! Kya baat hai, dhoop, sardi, NY Eve, pati sabka
maza ek saath?
Khanak:Read this one!
Points to the screen
R crouches “Gosh! You smell good”
K:Mazaak?
R:Teri awaz ko kya hua?
K:I am not sure…
R:Nevermind bewdi..
K smacks her
Both giggle and whisper, Ritu and her eat like they’ve not
eaten in days… he notices his wife be uninhibited, casual, not withdrawn and
timid…
The strawberry bowl goes empty fast, he finishes up typing
an email note, stretches… and just stares… relaxing langorously… “I” she had
said
“Wonder what it meant?”…. “I am mad at you” probably… The
apology for taking off to AHD never came, it came… but was sarcastic…
And then there was that whole, financial crisis she was in…
his jaw clenched as his teeth gnawed at each other…. He didn’t know if the
needs were never ending or the benefactor had endless compassion…, it wouldn’t take
him long to reach out to her Aada offering to understand it all, first, it
would be a breach of privacy, second, he knew she would leave… or vice versa…
He was hoping to work nights the next 3 or so weeks, he hadn’t
told her about it…… yet… he was sure that would be enough for her to plot yet
another rebellion….
Dad and Bhayya were leaving for Taiwan on 2nd…
Bhabhi wanted him to go for Amogh’s next appointment… he
could already see his wife’s reaction… “will we ever go to OUR baby’s Doc?”
“Most men in the West were afraid of making a commitment,
the M word had them running Olympic races... but with him it was the B word…”
She would do anything to have a baby now, he knew that… her
parents and family expected some kind of baby news every month…. It had been two
months since they reconciled…
He just wasn’t able to get through to her on this topic,
Gawd! She is stubborn…
Ritu:Miya bechaare ko soney ko nahi milta raat ko kaise
couch par so raha hai dekho, Tch tch tch…
Shaan opens his eyes “Amen!”
Khanak busies herself rearranging the breakfast utensils…
hot and bothered…
“Khanak tumhe soney nahi deti?”
“Usually” he said… getting off the couch…
“Oh… Puh..” Khanak begins and stops …
R:Haan bolo bolo, chup kyon ho gayi?
Khanak :You need to get busy!
R:I am, mujhe raat ko phone kar I wont answer…
K slaps her palm on her forehead, as her husband… pauses by
her “I am off to work”
K gives him a saccharine sweet smile “Jee”
Shaan: I missed two walk throughs since last week.. I missed yesterday's walkthrough also, every Friday there is one
K looks at him somberly
Ritu politely walks out with the empty dishes “Mystery lets
go shop, Bandra mein, lets blow away all our sorrows at the Mall” giggles as
she walks away.
Shaan: The design crew meets every Friday you know that,
Khanak gets up…
Shaan:Where is your brace…
She just walks over to the area where her catalogs lay…
Shaan:I plan to be back for the party…
He follows her hiding a smile
Khanak:Good to know…
Shaan:I cant take the day off (frustrated)
Khanak: That’s fine! (shutting down)
Shaan: Quit sulking then…(angry)
Her eyes enlarge… like water balloons…
Shaan:Khanak
Khanak: Go away!
He pins her to the chest of drawers…
Shaan:You can go shopping
Khanak:Thanks.. are you going to “give me money” now?
(angry) (since you are being very “husbandly”)
Shaan:How much do you need? (nibbles her ear)
Khanak:5 million dollars!
Pushing him away
Shaan: Ouch! (preoccupied)
They quietly enjoy each others breath and feel….the surround
sound plays his favorites…
Shaan:Are you going to go shop in a fit of despair like you
did at Beacon Hill
Khanak: Umm… mmm
Shaan:Lts go back there sometime Khanak…
K:Hmmm..(leaning on his chest, face down)
Shaan: Take a month off..
K:Hmmm
K:Aap bhi…
He laughs out loud…
S:Ofcourse… you need someone to make love…
K:And to drive…
They both laugh heartily…yet
softly…..
K:Ya… just someone… but with. THOSE hands and crease on the
cheek( agonized whisper, as the hands demonstrate)
She clings to him as she begins to slide…he grabs her and secures her to his body...
K:Since you seem to be in such an agreeable mood…I need
S:you got it! (cutting her off)
K:You have no idea what you just agreed to…
S: Go to bed..
K:Funny..
They cuddle…
S:I am not…… I am still mad at you (feeling her lower lip
with his thumb)
K:Kyon?
His eyes dart to the basket with her mail…
She gets it… they both know fully well, the massive issues
that lie beneath the surface of their congeniality…
K:Its a deal I made (with myself) (softly)
S: For a lifetime? (not surprised but certainly disapproving)

Really her family should know their limits..mainly her aunt's family..she may be married to a rich man but that doesnt mean they just suck her blood off..

DeleteLoved everything!!! Ritu is so cute!!! She speaks everything so openly..She loves to tease Khanak and make her smile/blush coz of it!!! Khanak is only like this with Ritu and Shaan!!!

I've got to say I so enjoy the way you incorporate the passion with their conversations...makes it so romantic! Sighhh.
So glad they were getting somewhere with one of their loaded issues...plus giving insight of why Shantanu doesn't want a baby :) I kinda understand of where he is coming from now and both have recently reconciled they need to give each other more time which they are lacking so at the moment. Although the whole commitment issue does frighten him, but somewhere down the line everyone has those doubts once you plunge into it I think spontaneously you realize its worth it.
You know the money issue is giving me the scare! This is something that I hate and honestly one of the issues I cringe...Hopefully the bottom line of this is somewhere safe :)
I'm loving their cuddles...totally a sucker for the envelope type of hugs! Something very dreamy about it...his and her height difference and the hug...Sighh!
