He stood in the balcony talking football, if he knew she was
puttering around in the room, he acted like he didn’t see it, he didn’t follow
her and try to flirt as she worked on something… cleaning up, looking through
her sketch book, or trying to sharpen pencils… she changed channels on the
surround sound… he would change it back… she would turn the volume down, he
would flip it back up…
She would say something in between giggles…. He would mute
his call and respond to her… pinning her on the wall… she would feel his neck
and the creases on his cheek… he would smile deeper allowing her finger access
into the cavity….
“Call” she would whisper… when the caller would repeat his
name…
He would bind her to the wall and take his call… she would
stay there… nuzzling and being nuzzled… for even 30 minutes… he would tuck the
phone in his pocket and make love after he was done…
Nothing of that sort happened…. He saw water dripping from
her hair when she picked up things to go down for breakfast… it soaked her
shirt… her locket on her chain would be lopsided… her dupatta would trail on
the floor… he ignored it all…. She was quiet anyway… the silence didn’t bother
her… the treatment did!
She went to the hospital again in the evening, Dadi’s driver
brought them home… Dadi mumbled all the way about how cruel Avaya is… Khanak
was ashamed of putting Dadi through the exact similar situation last year when
Shaan and her separated……..
Dadi would be devastated if we choose to end our
relationship” Khanak thought starting out the window…
“Chachi aa gayi Shridi se?”
“Nahi puttar not until Sunday, 10th ko”
The wealthy travelled to Shirdi frequently.. she took Ujju
with her since Sonali was gone… Sonali hadn’t texted her once since…
With 25k in her pocket Khanak wont be needed for a few
months… next year’s fee was due late July… over 1 lakh… Khanak stared down at
her phone… an image of birds Shaan had shot from Serendipity was her home
screen image…
“Toone abhi tak mujhe apni honeymoon ke photos nahi dikhayi”
“Its over two years old” Khanak smiled indulgently…
“Not OVER” Dadi corrected her…
“I feel old” Khanak argued…
“We need to do something about that… batati hoon Shaan ko”
“No Dadi” Khanak immediately… shot back…
Dadi laughed out loud… Khanak smiled quietly…

“Shantanu” she began when he hung up on his call
He realized she must have waited for him to end the call…
gave her a impassive cold look and walked out of the room…
Khanak tried to bury the lump in her throat…. Fighting it…
as her eyes filled up with tears..
stubborn Shaan.. waiting to c what will make him talk to Khanak....

ReplyDeleteOne thing is for sure this cool, distant and defenceless person becomes vulnerable when he is aloof with her...She should know how it feels now!
This is the last straw for Khanak...She'll either will be aloof again or will outburst or something just has to come up he'll relent...maybe she can feign being sick! It always works :P
Aditee iam seriously getting worried for them this time.........both of them have their reasons.........Khanak trying to reach out to Shaan is making me very emotional........loved the flashback........just wondering how this fight of theirs will end this time........the situation seems like a deadlock !! will be thinking about their fights and the end to each one of them till the next update........each one of them was lovely, amazing, awesome!! thanks for the last two fabulous parts!!

First of all, thanks a lot for creating this magical tale. Your tale and characters are so intriguing that i cant stop thinking about them day and night. Confession : I open your blog atleast 35-40 times a day in anticipation of your mind blowing updates.
