The food was delicious, albeit spicy for Khanak…
she picked the green chillies off of it, meticulously, as she emptied glasses
of chilled coconut water.
D: Should I ask him to make something for you?
K: Nahi..
D:To khao…
Ray: I eat more spicy food that Bhabheee. But I
think this is spicy too..
S gives Ray a “We all eat more spice than her”
look
He is diving into his kung pao chicken with
relish…
Ray makes a face..
Dadi: Ab tum bhi?
K:Dadi may I have a milk shake?
D Sure beta..
“You just
ate” she thinks…
D:Mat khao beta usko chhod do… Hari Lalll..
K:Theek Hai (smiling smugly)
R:Dadi you are such a pushover
K grinned mischievously
D smiled warmly
Dadi gave her all those things that Khanak craved
for but never revealed, gave her every opportunity to be childish, throw a
tantrum, sleep in, eat what she wanted to, not do any housework. Dadi helped
her disconnect from her real life.. she helped her be like most other 25 year
olds… she showed her how it was OK to let go and relax. Her existing mountain
of debt the ominous future events of weddings and health care…… did not matter
now….
Her husband looked on… deeply, somberly… he was
still not ready to talk with her, but he could look…. “she was his”.
P: Dadee Mum said there was a wedding you guys
were going to?
D:December is Punjabi wedding month
K:Main bhi chaloon? (like a child she raised her
hand)
Dadi laughed…
D:Ofcourse, but only if you promise to dress up
(winking)
K:THAT I will… can I bring Ritu along?
Her husband looked on…
D:Kab aa rahi hai?
K:Ummm… (confused)
S:Kal raat ko.
Dadi looks at both grinning… “he does complete
her” she concludes.
P:Yesssssss! (happy)
S:She is married… (“too”, he swallowed the last
word)
P:Do you realize Khanak you wore something in
that exact color the first time we met?
S:And… she is when you meet her for the very last
time (dry)
D: Shaaan! Kyon pareshaan karte ho tum Prad ko
beta.
“It’s the other way around Dadi”Shaan thinks
scathingly.
All their phones rings at the same time, except
Khanak’s ofcourse……
But she looks at her husband’s phone, he takes it
giving her a “Its work Khanak!” sternly
“Get lost” she thinks……
As he walks away…

S:Its less than a 15 minute drive (exasperated,
almost punching the steering)
P, R and K are all arguing who sits where in the
VW…
R:I call dibs by Bhayya
K:Its yours! (softly)
P: I am the navigator, I want to sit by him, but
if..
S:Khanak get in… right now, or you guys walk!
K gives him a blistering looks and climbs in, by
him.. the seat is far back, its much lower than how she sets it, a draft of
cold air blows from her side of the vent
There is gum wrapper by her feet…
She bends down to pick up everything
S:I will leave you in the car when we are at the
movies you can clean it up!
R:Bhabheee shut ur door……..
K:Ummm
S gets off.. walks around, slams the door, as he
grabs the random junk from her hand……
K:Tchhh
Just when he revs the engine
S:NOW what?
She presses the auto adjust button, rising the
seat and bringing it forward…….
K:Ummm… (confused why its not working)
The seat belt warning continues to beep
annoyingly, K refuses to wear it until her seat is pushed forward…….
S hits the seat control release from his dash,
smacks it actually……..
K presses again… he leans over… smacks the switch
between her waist and the door… his jaw scrapes her cheek………
K:Its not my setting (accusing)
S: thx… I will let Nachiket know (mad)
P:I can sit up front Khanak…
Shaan gasses it furiously, as he backs out of the
underground parking…
They get there in less than 10, her husband
barely follows the rules…
Avoids a challan…
The parking lot is full, he parallel parks near
the kerb… they’ve dug up around where Khanak’s door opens, Prad and Ray get off,
fighting over a Words with Friends cue…
There is a plank placed over a dug up ditch, rain
water fills it…
She scales the planks ever so slowly, he watches…
It tilts to a side… he offers his hand in help..
“Nahi” she says solemnly (I don’t need any from
you…)
He tucks his hands into his shorts pockets……. Firmly,
patiently waiting for her to fall..

His anger is valid...It's not about communicating or talking about her financial complications, he worries about the extent she is willing to go up-to...like Dadi, I'm sure he want hers to be liberated and unrestricted from any financial baggage as well...she's a 25 years old and she needs to enjoy every bit of it. Bless Dadi for an drop of that pleasure!
Aab tho even he completes her sentences for her...it's like the unspoken communication between them. Only both of them are acquainted to it. Sighhh!

ReplyDeleteHer eating habit continues to irritate him always! I love it how he each time mixes all the spice back to her food, or taint her food with his fork..or use the same fork! That reveals the amount of intimacy they share!
Dadi! I so love and admire this woman! The most caring Dadi ever! When Khanak's own family failed to gift her those so many things she so deserved, Dadi is letting her live it all! Loving and pampering her! She is one of the most inspiring personality in Casa, and the tale would forever be incomplete without her!
'She was his' and 'He does complete her' should have been in blue! Sighhh! It was like a confession, like an acceptance! While Khanak is afraid to depend on him completely..especially because of the huge work clash they had recently.., He is afraid to have that slightest distance, space between them..because of the same reason! But they WANT to belong, hold on to each other..as long as they can for dear life!
Aditee..this is SO bad! I mean, kabhi bhi Prad ko ye nahi chodta! He never misses a chance! And really, Prad has ALOT of patience! I believe its certainly not his mistake that he is attracted! :P Lol!
Their eye locks! Ayee..! It each time conveys something to each other! So magical! Even though they're furious, he cares for her each disappointment..each frown! Can someone be apart, yet be SO close!? Sighhh!
Ayee.. 'Khanak' after so many days! Jealousy bechare se kya kya karwa raha hain! He is trying to loosen his stand a lil so that Prad should not get a cue! :P Lol!

Loved the cute exchange in the car! When he looks up at her and they share an eye lock, he is always over-whelmed by her beauty, and she returns the gaze struck by the sense of her own transformation! Sighhh!

Lol! You know what! 2 days ago I was listening to this song 'Its criminal' from Ra-one and the moment Akon started to sing I was reminded of Prad and his hindi! Lol! And I imagined him dancing on new year for Khanak just like he had danced on her sangeet!! LMAO! I actually enjoyed the day-dreaming session! *escapes the chappal thrown at her* :P Didn have the guts to tell it aloud to Ady! :P lol!
I'll be the first one for throwing that chappal FOR even listening to that SONG! It's awful! I'm a SRK fan but I despised this movie of his.

beautiful updates!! Shaan simply loves having his wife around and he is most irritated when she's not with him!! Dadi is the sweetest and the most thoughtful!! Shanak are lucky to have her in their life!! i love it when Prad's there in between them, Shaan ki jealousy or possessiveness mujhe bahut pasand hai!! loving them this way!!

Blue and pink lines haaye.. In the last part the nap in swing and he switching off the music and making her awake from her dream and she getting his cap which he was searching all were beautifully written loved it!!
This part the entire car seating adjustment according to her setting and he tried to help her but she said Nahi he is waiting for her to fall i think she won't she will manage...
