Knocked up...

Ofcourse it bothered her, the fact that he wasnt looking... or the fact that he showed no interest in seeking her out...
Her nausea wasnt any better... she ate little... slept most afternoons and evenings... she enjoyed her job, it was a good gig...
She spent hours doing financial planning scenarios... she called her parents and Ritu daily...
She owed over Rs. 10 lakhs... she had taken the money from Dadi under that condition only
Her friends from work told her Sanjay appeared relieved.... she was extremely hurt by that, but couldnt do anything about it.
Her friends didnt know she had left home... in a dramatic quest to save her unborn child....
She was ashamed of having let Sunil down... but she did what occured to her first....
IF she had told him, and he had expressed indifference all this would have happened automatically
She felt like she had preempted his reaction and taken a step in advance...

She could be an art teacher for her rest of her life, but she would be bankrupt... a lot was riding on her... Sonali's future, Mehul and Mitali's success

Her Kaka called on her "new number" asked if he could visit after a work trip to Mumbai, she made up some strange excuse and promised to come see them all next month

Her Dadi would love it if she broke off with her husband... with a child out of wedlock... a wealthy Punjabi offspring... it would keep her Dadi and Bua busy for years...

Then she came back to square one.... him....she tried to justify his trip "He doesnt know I am pregnant so why not" 
"I never told him I was leaving, so he has the right to be furious"

Another week passed, June approached.... Dadi called everyday... she visited every other day in a cab... she got off school at 2 PM, Dadi would be waiting oustide... in  Lexus or Merc from Hertz

She avoided eating in the mornings altogether.... her face glowing, her eyes sparkling.... the "glow of pregnancy" enveloping her....her lower belly was beginning to take shape, at 7th week...three weeks since she left him....

Dadi didnt stay for dinner or a snack... she brought tons of snacks, and flowers...

"I am playing along because I love you..."
"Does Dad know?"
"Ummm...." said Dadi....
If he knew and he still handt contacted her that meant Dad was disappointed with her... if he didnt then she knew Dad would be angry when he found out...
Either way she was going to lose one of the two friends she had in the Gujral house

She got ready for work.... she wore a red skinny tee with "Knocked up" on it... Ritu's gift
The phone rang... it was the school... "I am sorry but we have to let you go" the words rang in her ears looong after she hung up
She was tearful but didnt cry
She didnt want to call Dadi....
The front door bell rang

He stood there read the reading aloud from her tee "Knocked up" he said unemtionally...
