CASA
II
Modi Dastur
She
gently pulled the card out of the fork like plastic holder, tucked it neatly
into her LV hand bag MIL gifted on her engagement.
Ram
walked in “Looking good!” he smiled
“Thanks”
she said shyly
Ram:I
was hoping you can meet your nw team this morning, but realized you do need
that break also
Khanak
is apologetic
“It
was quite unexpected actually Ram” she said softly
“How
long before they release you bak to us?” anxious
“9
months I was told, because I work only part time, if I was based in Gurgaon, it
could be accomplished in 6”
She
sat down, seting her chunky laptop case on the floor,
“Can
you stay late tonite?” he asked checking his phone
“Sure”
she blurted
“I
am told the new Bangalore builders are in town, their scouting is over” He
continues to read from his email
, “they
are nailing down on two abandoned spinning mills, that Garware owned in Lower
Parel is being demolished I am told
…..for luxury high rise. And another one
not sure where, some of it is still mired in legal battles between them and…”as
Ram pauses to answer a call
She looks at her flowers….
Ajmera
Corp Office
Noonish
His
phone rings, his “personal” phone. He finally caved in and got the “second”
phone, an “ankle bracelet” as he told Rahat.
Family
usually called on his original now
He
answered without looking, he had over 500 between family and friends…
Just as he grabbed it, some camera lenses slid
off the wide desk lining the cube wall and rolled on to the floor, he picked
them up carelessly….
“Gujral”
he said staring at the “site video feed”
“Be…
mera matlab, beta, main Pappa” Khanak’s Dad spoke in broken Hindi, he sounded
jumpy too
“Oh!
Hi! Uncle” he greeted, despite being preoccupied.
“Kaise
ho deekra?” Mr Mistry said
“I
am good” the SIL said…
“Aur
Khanak?” he asked
Shaan
smiled… “Her as well” “jee who bhi”
Her
Dad paused just like her…
“Ghar
par sab?” he said something in Gujarati, he could her his wife’s Mom admonish
him, as he switched, to a labored Hindi
“Sab,
doing well Uncle” he said
Shaan
continued to type… and run programs on his computer
He
felt obligated to ask “Are you home today?”
“Haan
aaj maha divas hai” he explained… some regional holiday…
“My
wife must know” he concluded in his mind…
“How
is Dadi?” Shaan asked, haltingly
“Abhi
theek, aaj check up bhi hai… shaam ko”
Her
father struggled to communicate with the urbane, well read, city boy of a son
in law, this man was different from the Sooraj deekra…. Very different
“Khanak
aa sakti hai kya, ek do hafte ke liye?” he asked earnestly but out of the blue,
just like his wife
Shaan
was caught offguard… the first response that came to his lips “Nahi Uncle”
He
arrested it… and continued politely “I am not sure of her schedule uncle” he
offered… neither agreeing nor disagreeing
“Who
Dadi milna chahti hain.” Her father continued…
A
work call rang frantically, it was Shamim from the site… at the very same
moment his admin pinged him on chat
asking if she can come in to get some signatures on some expense reports he
typed a short “Give me 10 Aabha.Thx” he
begged…
“Can
I call you in the evening uncle, I have a work call coming in”he said….
Politely… relieved?
Her
Dad apologized and wished him well, he did the same…
He
waited for her Dad to hang up, as Shamim grew increasingly impatient and called
in again…
“Gujral”
he growled into his work phone… as his eyes fell on the picture on his cube wall...of woman's hands with henna motifs all over…
Awesome!!! Khanak is gonna stay late in office..hmmm..if at all Shaan comes early to home and finds Khanak not there means he'll definitely get furious..LOL :) Shaan conversation with Mr.Mistry is nonchalant..Her dad wants her in Gujarat for 2 week..forget abt weeks, he'll not even let her for 2 days.. LOL :)
ReplyDeleteHow he reacted to her when she said abt her weekly trip to Gurgaon???
loved it, but aditee I didnt understand one thing y did dadi want khanak to meet ranbir? whos he?
ReplyDeletend I hope in this casa shanak dont get seperated lool
Khanak Shaan se door ho, this is Shaan's biggest problem and i love his possessiveness!!

ReplyDeleteHe wont let her get away! ;) How much I missed this possessive Man! <3
oh ho shan will never let her go away but yaar uske dadi ki health acchi nahi hai uska milna jana jayaj hai
ReplyDeletekaisa husband hai ek minute ke liye bhi apne biwi dur jane nahi deta hmmhahhahaahaha but i love him like this
I am sure Aada wouldn't have called Shaan, if the situation regarding Dadi was not so serious.
ReplyDeleteHope he atleast understands the gist of the call.
Loved the possessiveness in him, whether it's with her or regarding her.
I kinda get the feeling due to work priorities, they seem not have spend much time together and after Khanak is the Senior architect, with her DLF project it will be time consuming.
Let's see what you have :)
Okay, as Ram had not completed his sentence, is there going to be any chnce of the other party being Ajmera? Just a brisk thought...if yes! Oh god!
Update soon :)
Ram asked her to stay late night and khanak agreed
ReplyDeletekhanak's Aada called shaan and they spoke little, he want khanak to meet her dadi hope she fine and nothing serious shaan can't stay away from khanak so he said nahi uncle and then told him, he doesn't know about her schedule plan
