Aada: Khanak ki flight abhi utri… main ghar chalkar tumhe
foon karwaata hoon…
Shaan: Matlab? (blood rushed to his face).
Aada:Thanks beta usko bheja tumne!
Shaan: Sure! (soft… tight)
Shaan: I have to go Uncle..
Aada:Soree!
Shaan:That’s fine…
Aada:Khanak ko kuch kehna hai?
Shaan: Nahi…
Aada hung up with a wide grin…. Shaan’s was contrasting…

He flung the phone on his work desk… the din of the
construction noise was not helping…. The trailer was air conditioned… there were
so many flood lights on the site… from inside the trailer the windows were a vivid orange..............it seemed like the whole site was on fire…. Orange
and bright…
She had come online in the afternoon with her formal “Hi!”
His heart had skipped a beat, he was juggling multiple
things… working with the new geologist, talking to the crew on site while
answering his Admin Aabha’s Qs…
She had began with “Sonali”
While she was typing he had cut her off “Not right now
Khanak!”
He was still livid about his wife defaulting on payments….
He didn’t want to know the newest drama in Sonali’s life
Not at work!
Khanak had not said a word after that…
He didn’t think much about it…
“WHEN did she book her tix? “ he wondered…”Does Dadi
know?”
He quickly grabbed the phone, as it rang…. Ignored the
ring… reached for personal phone… letting the work phone jump to VM
S:Dadi?
D:Hi! Beta!
S:Did you know she was going to her parents’?
D:Shaan…
S:Am I the last one to find out?
D:Her Dadi has been ill
S:Does hari Lal know?
D:Love that humor..
S:Is she coming back?…
D:Shaan… yeh kya sawaal hai? She is your wife!
S: Thanks… I wouldn’t have known…
D:Dad and Akshay are home…(changing the topic)
S:Dadi why didn’t you tell me this morning?
D(talking with Sunil) They plan to change all their
guards… movie stars and their antics (laughing) (a guard at a nearby building
in the posh Hill area apparently let papparazzi through a private elevator to a
star’s penthouse…)
D:When are you coming home. HL is making shrimp…
S:Did you book it for her?
D:No! (firm)
Khanak had informed her at breakfast………. Dadi was not
pleased… she had tried to dissuade her… Madhavi was in the shower when Khanak
had broken the news, Khushboo and Amogh were expected for dinner on Friday…..
not sooner……so Dadi got to know of it..
“He doesn’t talk with me” Khanak had said… squishing a
grape on her plate… with a trembling
fork.. the juice squirted across the table…
“Don’t play with food beta.. khao… things are in the
exact spot HL placed them ………on ur plate”
‘I am not hungry (for food… I ache for that wild child of
urs)” she sulked.
“Shaan wanted to take Saturday off, he mentioned. You
guys should sleep in…….such Crazy lives
you lead…Sigh!” Dadi worried deeply
Khanak’s insides lurched painfully… when she thought of
how he would react………..
“I am really going this afternoon Dadi” Khanak declared
hoarsely
“Go with him… you can return in a day or two”
“Umm…mmm”
“Go next month” (Dadi would always point to a generic “next
month” she didn’t want the girl to go anywhere anytime)
Khanak smiled at the familiar suggestion…
She stared at the half filled bowl of some meat in front
of her.. “he feels cheerful enough to stuff himself with food… what a scum!”
goes through her mind…
“Tumhe uske gusse
ka pata hai, kyon beta?” she pleaded..
“Umm………He doesn’t care” (reminded of the explicit
rejection in the shower yesterday morning..)
“I always jump to your defense beta, but this time.. (I
am unable to… this is wrong!)
Her brain conjured up scenes of her husband returning
home and to the bed… and finding it empty……… “no one to wake”… “no one to
torment”
Their entangled arms and legs…her initial resistance at being awakened………followed
by their frantic seeking……..wild unbridled passion…….
She picked up her purse… squished Dadi… knocking her
breath out…….. as a large tear threatened to blind her vision…
“This is not right!” Dadi had said…passing her judgement though it fell on deaf ears...
As the young girl walked away stoically…
Dadi was lost… she had no idea how to get in between the
two and resolve everything. They both were greatly stubborn and wilful. As
selfish greedy and ravenous as they were in demanding the other’s attention,
they were equally cold and indifferent when slighted…
There was no half measure…
S:So she engineered this act of mutiny?
D:She is YOUR WIFE! (disappointed with Khanak but not
very happy either with her brat of a grandson)
Shaan hung up…

AND going by the punjabi...I just want him to say like a word in Gujju as Khanak spoke Punjabi in Casa 1 and I thought it was utterly cute...Now his turn :)
Yes..yes! It was indeed, very cute! And I also wanted him to reply in the same lang! :D Just want to hear the Man himself speak in punjabi, and it would get imprinted on my mind for the rest of my life! :P I love him! *Sigh*

ReplyDeleteHe is drool-worthy *sigh*! The cletch jaw in rage with those chocolaty brown eyes on fire...his aggression is competences appealing ESPECIALLY regarding HER!
He is again at that junction...in the previous season when Khanak left for Pune he was angry for being informed last...again! Even though both are not on talking terms...he demands her to give the authority and him being the most important... he is! He always will be special...though she doesn't enunciate.

wow... second time he is finding out that she didnt tell him.. first Pune and now AHMD... loved how Dadi told her that she is wrong.. Khanak surely needs a wake up call soon.. lets c what he does now..

ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! Loved the whole conversation between Shaan and Dadi..:) how she tried to inject humor, etc..Poor Dadi..She is caught between ShaNak..though she tried a lot to stop Khanak..when it comes to stubbornness no one can beat Khanak!!!

Will he go to Ahmadabad to bring her back or will he stay back unaffected like he did in her Pune trip??? what if it continues for 1 week??? LOL:D
Yep..she needs to open up..but love how both push each other to extremes, which brings so many interesting facets to their life!!! who'll relent now is the big question???

may be because he is way more than perfect character
a total contrast to the realistic character of Khanak the beauty of Casa
the one thing I love about Shaan is his possesiveness about Khanak
and you have once again beautifully captured it
love adaa but I think you need to work a bit more on Sonali a confused character
